JUST THE FACTS

Dan Bengel
Hello there, maybe you found this site because you are really unlucky, or maybe I told you about it. Whatever the case may be, you now owe me a beer! This is not some fancy blog, with me posting on it all day, but one that has "just the facts". You know, the important things in life. The tap list, events coming up, and specials. Yeah, I'm even going to comment on some of the stuff I will be doing here. So get me that beer and relax, the show is getting ready to start.

MISTAKES, FAUX PAUX AND QUESTIONS

So I am sitting at the Northside last night like I usually do, when Ms Sarah "Rocks" breaks down to take a look at the blog from the laptop of another fine person named Dan, when she says "You spelled Chef Bill Beck's name wrong." Sure enough I have been spelling it Veck for the only reason I can gather is for former White Sox owner Bill Veck. I need to blame somebody for this mistake, but right now I can't think of anybody. Also since the switch to the new layout, I've been able to slowly piece together the last part of The Best Of 2007. One of the many reasons I left that layout was that some of the stuff (blog posts) would go into hiding, so to speak. The others became outdated so I just sent them to that big deleted file in the sky. The questions I speak of were mostly about whatever happen in that blog about so and so or whatyoumaycallit. Well maybe it is time for an update. After all our one year anniversary is coming up. Last but certainly not least, our gal Sarah is having a housewarming party tomorrow night at her new digs located at (TOP SECERT!) See you there.

THIS LITTLE PIGGY WENT TO NORTHSIDE

The wind was wicked and it was a mighty cold night outside, but inside this little fellar here was mighty warm. And the 50 or so people who ventured to The Northside were not dissapointed. It was another fine performace from Chef Beck and of course Mr. O and the hard working staff at Sunday night's dinner. I got there about a forty five minutes late as I had a previous dinner engagement. By that time those hungry Northsiders had already devoured one pig and were finishing up a Hendricks cheese course. I of course went to the bar were Sarah "Rocks" and Ms. Kim were filling up those wine glasses with Ondineke Tripel and I got one for myself. I strolled around the room and ended up sitting with these fine folks.
In just a minute or so the beer and food were flying out of the kitchen and the bar, making for some very happy people. The Pheasant Confit on top of Baby Greens with Candied Walnuts tossed in a Framboise Vinaigrette paired with Leifman's Luficer.

Pan seared Buffalo Strip Steak with Barley Risotto and Wittekerke sauteed Leeks, Turnips and Brussel Sprouts. Paired with La Binchoise Reserve and La Rulles Voeux. By the time this was done everybody needed a little breather, so I thought I would get up and see what all the other Northsiders were doing.
When the dessert came out, well it was so good I forgot to take a picture. All in all it was another good time at the Northside. Kudos to that hard working staff in the kitchen and out on the floor, Chef Beck and of course Ms. Kim and Sarah and those Ortino's, I think they may have something to do with this.

SO DO YOU LIKE IT?

After waiting for Mr. Google to fix my template and other small posting problems, I decided to take matters into my own hand and clean this blog up! What do you want for nothing I guess. In other Northside news, only a dozen or so tickets remain for the Sunday night dinner with one small change. The Buffalo Short Ribs were as they say, real short as in they didn't show up. We still got some Buffalo though and I am sure Mr. Bill Beck can come through with something good. There is also going to be some lovely beers on tap that are not with the dinner itself, such as Cantillon Grand Cru 2004. I guess that will be really tough to choke down! So until tomorrow, cheers!
